The 5 elements or the 5 phases of change:

All elements or phases of change are in a dynamic relationship with each other. Every shift always influences the whole system.

There is no inner or outer phenomena, which you cannot classify or arrange in the order of 5 elements. The goal healthiness is reached when all elements are nearly balanced. Thus it is important to understand the principles of the 5 elements.


Qualities of the 5 elements:


Wood

Wood:

  • spring, wind
  • birth and childhood
  • green, sour, astringent
  • liver and gall bladder
  • creative, flexible Top
Fire

Fire:

  • summer, heat
  • the young adult
  • red, bitter, cured
  • heart and small intestine
  • communication, adaptive Top
Earth

Earth:

  • late summer, time between the seasons, humidity
  • the adult
  • gold-yellow, sweet, moisture
  • spleen and stomach
  • awareness, concentration Top
Metal

Metal:

  • autumn, dryness
  • climacteric period
  • white-grey, hot, moving
  • lung and large intestine
  • disengaging and structure Top
Water

Water:

  • winter, coldness
  • retreat and death
  • blue-black, salty, macerating
  • kidney and bladder
  • power, will power Top
