Recipes according to the 5 Elements

While cooking according to the 5 elements it is necessary to stick to the order of ingredients. The recipes listed below view that order of ingredients from top to bottom.


For the late Summer and Autumn:

The late Summer and Autumn suits the earth- and metal time. Below you find a few recipes which refer to that season-element relation.


Breakfast:   ->Top

  1. Sweet Polenta : for 3 – 4 persons, time you need ca. 10 minutes
    • F pot with 750 ml boiling hot water
    • E if you want, you pour 250 ml milk or soya milk in the pot as well
    • E 1 spoon of honey
    • E 1 spoon of raisins or other dry fruits
    • E slowly melt the Polenta in the pot, now low heat
    • M a bit cinnamon on top
    tasty with fresh or cooked fruits.
    Effect: tonically for stomach and spleen, constitutive for Qi and blood, warming
     
  2. Millet- or Oat Porridge: for 3 – 4 persons, time you need ca. 10 minutes
    • F 0.5 liter boiling hot water
    • E 0.5 liter milk or soya milk (but also you can use only water)
    • E 1 spoon honey
    • E 1 spoon hazelnuts
    • E 1 spoon dry fruits
    • E melt the millet flakes in, low heat that the porridge can gush
    • M or melt the oats in
    • M bit cinnamon- and cloves powder on top
    tasty with fresh or cooked fruits
    Effect: tonically for the center, low warming, constitutive for Qi and blood

Salads:   ->Top

  1. Apple- and carrot salad
    • F small pieces of walnuts
    • E grated carrots and apples
    Salad Sauce:
    • M small pieces of onions, ginger powder and pepper
    • W salt
    • W vinegar, best is balsamico
    • F dry thyme
    • E olive- or walnut oil
    mix it together, if you like put saute sunflower seats on top
    Effect: light fresh, helpful against a hot stomach, constitutive for Qi and blood
     
  2. Salad of beans
    • E cooked green beans
    • M pepper
    • W salt
    Salad Sauce:
    • E olive oil
    • M bit savory
    • W salt
    • W vinegar, best is Balsamico
    • F rose paprika and thyme
    • E sesame
    • M little pieces of onion if you like
    mix it up and than it should stay a while
    Effect: constitutive for Qi and blood

Soups:   ->Top

  1. Pumpkin Soup
    • E olive oil in a pot
    • M cut onions and field garlic
    • W salt and than fill it up with cold water
    • W hackled parsley
    • F dry thyme and rosemary
    • E sliced pumpkin
    after a while you can smash it, if you like put saute sunflower seats on top
    Effect: give power to middle of your chest, constitutive for Qi and blood
     
  2. Field Garlic Soup
    • E olive oil in a pot
    • M cut field garlic
    • W salt and cold water how much you want
    cook it ready
    • W vinegar or lemon juice
    • F dry thyme
    • E you make it bit thicker with powder of potatoes and a bit water (together)
    • M pepper and ginger powder how much you like
    fine with saute bread on top
    Effect: warming, against stagnation, help for the immune system

Main Dish:   ->Top

  1. Vegetable Pan
    • E olive oil in a pan
    • E cut carrots and fennel
    • M cut kohlrabi, field garlic and onions
    • W bit soya sauce and than cold water to extinguish
    cook for a while but look, the vegetable shouldn't be soft
    • W cut fresh parsley
    • F bit of rosemary
    tasty with pesto on top, good with rice or millet
    Effect: warming, give energy to the kidneys, constitutive to blood and Qi
     
  2. Beef Goulash
    • F put the beef during one night in red wine
    • E olive oil in a pot and than the meat in, fried it a bit
    • M cut onions and ginger powder
    • W salt and stock how much you want
    cook it for a while
    • W parsley and tomato puree
    • F rose paprica, rosemary and thyme
    cook for 1 hour, tasty with every grain or potatoes
    Effect: very warming, give lots of Qi

Dinner:   ->Top

  1. Millet Burger
    • E well cooked millet in a bowl
    • E 1-2 raw eggs, mix it together
    • M cut onion and pepper
    • W salt
    • W cut fresh parsley
    • F bit thyme
    mix it with bread crumbs and form it like burgers and fry it in a pan with olive oil, tasty with salad and herb curd
    Effect: to dehumidify, energy for stomach and Qi
     
  2. Baked Potatoes
    • E wash new potatoes with skin, cut them in the middle that they are flat, carve them 3 times, bring them on a baking sheet with olive oil and oil the potatoes
    • M pepper
    • W salt
    • W bit dry parsley
    • F rosemary on top
    ca. 20 minutes in the oven with 200 degrees, tasty with herb curd
    Effect: light warming, power for spleen, stomach and kidneys

Dessert:   ->Top

  1. Sweet Rice Pudding
    • E milk or soya milk, warming in a pot and few cut nuts
    • M rice flour or rice flakes
    • W bit salt
    • W lemon juice and rubbed skin of lemon
    low heat and wait that the pudding get thick
    • F half teaspoon kakao
    • E vanilla, cinnamon and honey
    Effect: refreshing, tonically Qi and blood, moisturise the lung
     
  2. Compote
    • E cut fruits of the season, slowly warming
    • E 1 teaspoon of honey and bit vanilla
    • M spice cloves powder and if you like ginger powder
    • W cold water how much you want
    • W lemon juice
    • F kakao
    Effect: refreshing, moisturing
